Interior architect

Key responsibilities:

  • taking projects from concept to completion
  • running own projects varying in size up to £3million in size
  • responsible for generating, developing and implementing interior design concepts
  • taking ownership for the project and presenting to potential or existing commercial clients
  • site meetings and liaising with consultants
  • work with a team, delegating tasks and providing support to other designers
  • directing and overseeing the site deliverance to completion

Requirements

  • interior design or architecture degree
  • a minimum of three years experience running projects through to completion
  • good time management skills to meet multiple deadlines
  • knowledge of finishes, materials, packages and details
  • experience of FF&E selection, coordination and scheduling
  • experience coordinating design with other consultants
  • confident to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • presentation skills and demonstrate confident client handling skills
  • experience in construction and bespoke detailing and good knowledge of finishes and materials
  • excellent communication skills, exceptional attention to detail and must be able to produce drawings under pressure within tight deadlines
  • fluent in English, verbal and written
  • proficient using Vectorworks, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Office
  • a working knowledge of UK building systems, regulations and construction methods

 

Architectural technician

London, UK

Spacelab are a forward thinking architecture and interior design practice. As experts in workplace design we work with our clients to analyse and re-imagine how they use their space to make it more effective.

We are looking for an architectural technician to join us on a full time permanent basis to assist with a range of prestigious projects.

Supporting the design team you will:

  • convert sketches into scaled and measured CAD drawings.
  • prepare production, tender and construction package information
  • CAD technical output at each project stage
  • support the design team on site and deal with contractor queries

Requirements:

  • architecture/interior design degree or appropriate technician qualifications
  • at least two years experience, preferably working on interior fit-out schemes
  • high technical skills with attention to detail, strong evidence of technical detailing should be demonstrated on your CV
  • ability to take initiative to solve technical issues
  • ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • confident to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • solid working history
  • fluent in English, verbal and written
  • fluent in Vectorworks
  • proficient using Microsoft Office
  • a working knowledge of UK building systems, regulations and construction methods

 

Design assistant

We are looking for a design assistant to join us on a full time permanent basis to prepare client presentations, from pitch’s through to feasibility and outline design stages.

Key responsibilities:

  • working with directors and the head of marketing to prepare visually effective pitch documents and presentations
  • working with directors and the design team to create graphically consistent materials for client presentation at key design stages
  • creation of presentation plans, sections and elevations
  • creation of SketchUp models and presentation visualisations

Requirements:

  • interior design or architecture degree
  • a good eye for graphics and typography
  • a flair for page composition
  • fluent using Vectorworks, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • good knowledge of 3D Studio Max a bonus
  • an awareness of basic space planning requirements
  • confident to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines
  • fluent in English, verbal and written
